KKNG-FM (97.3 FM) in Oklahoma City is a radio station broadcasting a Catholic religious format. Licensed to Blanchard, Oklahoma, United States, the station serves the Blanchard, Oklahoma area. The station is currently owned by Stanton Nelson, through licensee WPA Radio, LLC.

History

The station broadcast with the calls KBXR beginning in March 1984 and was licensed to Weatherford, Oklahoma. The station changed calls to KWEY-FM on September 20, 1991. The station, until 2006, was a country station as "97.3 The Coyote". During 2006, KKNG moved closer to Oklahoma City and flipped to variety hits, using the smaller-market Jack FM network as "97.3 Jack FM" and changing its' callsign to KOJK to match.

On March 8, 2010, after playing "I'll Cry Instead" by The Beatles, 97.3 flipped back to country as "97.3 King Country"; the callsign was later changed to KKNG-FM to match the branding. Former DJs included Lynn Waggoner in the morning, Vanessa Valli midday, Owen Pickard for the afternoon drive, and Carly Rae for the night shift. The Sunday Morning Gospel Show, also hosted by Waggoner, aired on KKNG Sunday mornings from 7-11AM.

On February 28th, 2013 at 10PM, after playing "You're the Only One" by Dolly Parton, KKNG joined the Oklahoma Catholic Radio network, joining a statewide network and taking over the OKC simulcast from KTLR, which had previously aired it part-time.
