The Körber Group is headed by the company Körber AG, which is based in Hamburg. Körber AG is a strategic management holding which oversees the Group with the seven Business Areas: Automation, Logistics Systems, Machine Tools, Pharma Systems, Tissue, Tobacco and Corporate Ventures. The Group comprises leading-edge technology companies and over 100 production, service, and sales entities. With approx. 11,500 employees around the world the Körber Group generated sales of €2.3 billion.

Until his death in 1992, the company founder, Kurt A. Körber, was the sole owner of the Körber AG. The entrepreneur, who remained childless, had already decided in 1969 that the Körber AG would be left entirely after his death to the Körber Foundation, and that it would annually receive a portion of the profits from the Körber Group as a dividend.

Group Structure

The Group comprises seven Business Areas, each of which being run by a management or holding company:

  • The Business Area Automation specialises in the areas drive and automation technology, sensor and energy technology for various technology sectors and customer industries.
  • The Business Area Logistics Systems realises projects for well-known sector leaders. It comprises the six companies Aberle, Aberle Software, Efacec Handling Solutions, Inconso, Langhammer and Qubiqa Logistics.
  • The Business Area Machine Tools is one of the world’s leading suppliers of precision machines for grinding, eroding, combined machining and measuring. It comprises the eight brands Studer, Schaudt, Mikrosa, Walter, Ewag, Mägerle, Blohm and Jung.
  • The Business Area Pharma Systems is synonymous with integrated solutions for the inspection and packaging of pharmaceutical products and unites under its umbrella the companies Dividella, Mediseal, Rondo, Seidenader and Werum IT Solutions with production facilities in Germany, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and the USA.
  • The Business Area Tissue offers solutions for converting and packaging of tissue products, represented by Fabio Perini.
  • The majority of all filter cigarettes worldwide are manufactured with machines from the Körber Business Area Tobacco. The companies Hauni, Decouflé, Borgwaldt, Garbuio Dickinson and Sodim have repeatedly assisted with the further development of industrial production methods.
  • The Business Area Corporate Ventures encompasses those companies with whom the Group enters into new territory and companies with special market circumstances.
