Jonathan Fielden

Jonathan Mark Fielden (born 9 September 1963) was formerly Medical Director Medicine Board at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

He was educated at Bedford School and trained at the University of Bristol. His first consultant post was at Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine.

He was Chairman (2006-9) of the Central Consultants and Specialists Committee of the British Medical Association, he also served as the Secondary Care Specialist on the Governing Body of Aylesbury Vale Clinical Commissioning Group until October 2015.

Fielden led the Care Quality Commission team which inspected Hinchingbrooke Hospital in 2014. According to the BBC the hospital was put in special measures after being rated `inadequate' by the CQC. He was appointed director of specialised commissioning at NHS England in October 2015. Subsequently, he was reckoned by the Health Service Journal to be the 49th most influential person in the English NHS in 2015. In February 2017 it was revealed that he is currently away from his work with NHS England and the General Medical Council had placed restrictions on his licence to practice, due to a police investigation into allegations of voyeurism. A notice on Dr Fielden’s GMC registration lists several conditions on his practice, with effect from 9 January 2017.

One requirement states: “He must only work in roles which do not involve patient contact and which are within the National Health Service.”

Another says: “He must keep the GMC informed of the progress of the police investigation, specifically any revised bail dates and conditions and any criminal charges within 48 hours of any such events.”
