In 2010 Acuff "closed the gap between his day job and his dream job" when he was hired by Dave Ramsey as a full-time speaker and author. The first book he wrote for Dave Ramsey’s company was titled Gazelles, Baby Steps & 37 Other Things Dave Ramsey Taught Me About Debt.

In September 2013, Acuff abruptly resigned from Dave Ramsey's company. He called his time working for Ramsey "the three greatest years of our professional life."

Personal life

Acuff resides in Franklin, Tennessee with his wife, Jenny, and two children. In November 2009, he used his blog to raise $60,000 to build a kindergarten in Vietnam and he is currently working with Thistle Farms, a social enterprise in Nashville, Tennessee, that helps women who have survived prostitution, trafficking, and addiction.
