John "Jocko" Willink is an American podcaster, author and retired United States Navy SEAL, who received the Silver Star and Bronze Star for his actions in the Iraq War. Willink was commander of SEAL Team Three's Task Unit Bruiser during the 2006 Battle of Ramadi. Other notable members of Task Unit Bruiser were Leif Babin, Marc Alan Lee, Michael Monsoor, Kevin Lacz and Chris Kyle.

Post-Navy career

Willink retired from the Navy in 2010 and formed the company Echelon Front, which offers "practical, experience-based solutions to complex problems based on our own lessons learned through a myriad of dynamic leadership challenges." As part of the Echelon Front team, Willink co-founded the company with Leif Babin who was also part of SEAL Team Three Task Force Bruiser, serving under Willink.

Willink is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner and received his black belt from Dean Lister. He started a weekly podcast, The Jocko Podcast, with Echo Charles on December 22, 2015 covering topics from leadership, jiu-jitsu, exercise, and lessons learned as a Navy SEAL.
Published works

Willink is of Dutch descent. Based on their careers in the United States Navy, he and Babin co-authored the leadership manual Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy Seals Lead and Win.
