Stacey Butterfield is the superintendent of the district, which passed 10,000 students in 2011. Jenks and large parts of south and west Tulsa, Oklahoma are part of the Jenks school district, covering 39 square miles (100 km2).

The school district was established in 1908. Classes were initially held in a two-room building that had been intended to be a cheese factory, and there were four students in the first graduating class. In 2009 Jenks High School observed its 100th graduation with a class of 715 seniors.

On November 22, 2005, Jenks Public Schools was announced as a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award recipient. Jenks public schools has the 11th largest student population in Oklahoma. The system's schools have some of the highest test scores in the area, and are academically compared to the local private schools.

The Jenks football program has won 15 state championships, and its rivalry with nearby Union High School has been named by numerous news sources as one of the top high school football rivalries in the nation. Between them, Jenks and Union have won the state 6A championship (the division for Oklahoma's largest high schools) every year since 1996.

Jenks is known for not only its football program, but many other competitive sports. Jenks High School has partnered with Chengdu No.7 High School in China, and has been involved in a student and teacher exchange program since 2003.

Jenks High School is known nationally for their outstanding music program. Its award-winning show choir, the Trojanaires, are directed by Larry Downey and Julie Hester.
