History

The club was established in 1948, and was originally named Lavori Publici (Public Works) due to its links with the Ministry of Public Works. Most of the players came from the former teams "Societa' Calcio Mogadiscio" and "Amaruini", that played amateur football in the Italian Somalia from 1936 until 1941.

The club won their first Somalia League title in 1969. The club went on to win the title again in 1970 and 1971. They won the Somalia Cup in 1977 and 1980, before winning their third league title in 1980–81.
