Jean-Michel Carboni (born 23 July 1955) is a French Chief Executive Officer, Senior Executive, member of the top 20 of Engie's management committee (2014). Between 2010 and 2015, he is the CEO of ENGIE IT (€600 millions of revenue, 2013) and also manager of global IT services (revenues in 2013 : €1,2 billion).

Early life

Son of Michel Carboni, Secretary-General of Nice's customs, Carboni was born in Nice where he attended the Lycée Masséna. In 1977 he graduated from prestigious business school ESCP Europe in Paris.

Career

Carboni began his career in French diplomacy as Trade Attaché at French Embassy in Greece before joining marketing department for Swedish brand Findus. In the beginning of the 1980s, he joined French national energy group : EDF-GDF (EDF : Électricité de France and GDF : Gaz de France, today Engie). He worked for the financial and trading department of EDF-GDF (as Chief of the Treasury and of the Trading room).

In 1997, Carboni took over as CEO of Cofathec Italy before becoming member in the executive committee of Cofathec group, today ENGY Cofely (in French) (€2,5 billions in 2014). In 2001, he is Vice CEO of the E-compagnie (Internet program) and Deputy Manager of the CNIEG (National Fund for the Electricity and Gas Industries) before taking the position of Deputy Secretary General of Gaz de France in 2004. Later he is General Manager of Gaz de France's subsidiaries in Eastern Europe (Hungary, Romania, Poland, Czech Republic, etc). After the merger of Gaz de France and Suez in 2008, GDF Suez is born and Carboni took up the position of CEO of GDF Suez Italy (revenue 2010 : €350M).

From 2010, Carboni began the mutualization of GDF Suez's IT Services and then the founder and CEO of ENGIE IT (at that time GDF Suez IT), with a revenue of €600M in 2013., it is the major IT (Information & Technologies) subsidiary of European continent.

Then Carboni became Special Advisor to Engie chairman Gérard Mestrallet and CEO Isabelle Kocher.

Father of French director and producer Jérémie Carboni.
