Personal life

James Castleman is considered the "blind side" story of the small Texas town, Amarillo. The reference stemming from the Hollywood blockbuster starring Tim McGraw and Sandra Bullock The Blind Side detailing the story of Michael Oher, a homeless and traumatized boy who became an All American football player and first round NFL draft pick with the help of a caring woman and her family. Although not homeless nor successful in the NFL, Castleman did draw financial and emotional support from a local wealthy family, "The Davids."
College career

Despite playing as a defensive tackle, he became known for his 48-yard reception in the 2015 Cactus Bowl.
NFL 2015

Castleman was given tryouts with the National Football League Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs in 2015 and was signed by neither team.
