College career

Addae committed to the Central Michigan Chippewas as a running back. After converting to the defensive back position, he was named Third Team All-MAC in 2010, First Team in 2011, and Second Team in 2012. Addae finished his career at Central Michigan with 302 tackles, eight interceptions, and three forced fumbles.
2013 season

In 2013, Addae went undrafted and was eventually signed by the San Diego Chargers. He impressed the Chargers coaching staff enough to make the final 53-man roster. Addae became the team's nickel and dime safety as he became more involved due to injuries suffered by safety Brandon Taylor. Addae played in all 16 games, making two starts, managing to record 38 tackles, one sack, and one pass deflection.
2014 season

During the 2014 offseason, Addae competed for the starting strong safety position. During the Chargers preseason, Addae suffered a hamstring injury. He returned during the regular season against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Against the New England Patriots, Addae forced a fumble, which was recovered by teammate Darrell Stuckey and taken for a touchdown. For the 2014 season, Addae collected 48 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 sack.
2015 season

In 2015, Addae again competed for the starting spot against Jimmy Wilson, which was Marcus Gilchrist's job the year before. He won the spot after being the number 2 strong safety for San Diego and showing significant improvements. Addae started 13 games for the Chargers during the 2015 season, amounting 65 tackles, one sack, and five passes defended.
2016 season
The Chargers placed a second-round tender on Addae in 2016. In Week 17, Addae recorded an interception, which was returned for a touchdown, against their AFC West rival Kansas City Chiefs.
2017
On March 9, 2017, Addae signed a four-year contract extension with the Los Angeles Chargers.
