In 2007, Jacquees met a former manager Orlando Grind, and was later discovered by Johnathan Sims. He would be performing a variety of talent shows before he finally met Russell "Block" Spencer, who is a founder and then-CEO of Block Entertainment. Jacquees later worked in various different recording studios, however, he merely was blended with the team that did not offer him the opportunity to show his true talents. "When you see work being done around you but not for you, you tend to get discouraged", says Jacquees. Block’s focus was only rap music, not R&B. During the summer of 2009, where Block witness how talented Jacquees can be, before shifting his vision. Jacquees later began working closely at the Block Entertainment's recording studio, gaining some more exposure with a release of a track, called "Krazy" featuring T.I.
