J. Bradley Burzynski (born 1955) is a former Republican Illinois State Senator, representing the 35th district from 1993 to 2011.

Early life, education and career

B.M.E., Illinois Wesleyan University. Senator Burzynski is a former school teacher at Pinckneyville Middle Schools, a former Farm Bureau manager for Clark and Clinton counties, and a former Governmental Affairs Director for the DeKalb County Farm Bureau.

Illinois Senate

Education; Higher Education (Minority Spokesman); Housing and Community Affairs; Pensions and Investments; Midwestern Higher Education Compact. He is also a member of the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules.

In 2003, he became a member of Senate Republican Leadership with his appointment as Caucus Chair. Burzynski previously served in the Illinois House of Representatives, representing the 75th district from 1990 to 1993.

He led the effort to expand health care options in rural areas by licensing advanced practice nurses in Illinois. He helped passed legislation establishing separate governing boards for state universities to provide a higher quality of education. He fights to improve the overall quality of education, relieve the property tax burden, and protect Illinois families.

Personal life

Burzynski resides in Clare, Illinois with his wife, Judy. They have two adult children and two grandchildren.

He is involved locally in the Midwest Higher Education Commission, Sycamore Kiwanis, DeKalb Salvation Army Advisory Board, DeKalb County Crime Stoppers, and the Chambers of Commerce in Sycamore, DeKalb, Belvidere, Loves Park/Machesney Park, Byron, Rochelle and Rockford.
