Infortrend an introduction

History

Infortrend was founded in 1993 in Taiwan, initially focusing on RAID controllers. The company gradually expanded its focus to include full RAID storage arrays.

In 2003 it started to ship its own-branded products when it launched the EonStor product series. Since then, its own-branded business has continued to grow, including product lines such as EonStor DS, ESVA and EonNAS.

Infortrend has been a leader in the storage market, launching the world's first 8Gbit/s Fibre Channel-host (FC-host) RAID array, the world's first 16Gbit/s FC-host RAID array, 2.5"-drive RAID array, SAS-drive RAID array and SATA-drive RAID array.

Infortrend was listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange in 2002.

Products

Infortrend primarily produces and sells RAID storage solutions. The company's main product families include ESVA (Enterprise Scalable Virtualized Architecture), EonStor DS and EonNAS.

  • The ESVA family includes virtualized SAN (Storage Area Network) storage solutions for mid-range enterprises offering thin provisioning, distributed load balancing, automated storage tiering, automatic data migration, prioritized volume accessibility, local and remote data replication. The ESVA family features Fibre Channel (FC) and iSCSI host systems, as well as models with hybrid FC/iSCSI host connectivity. ESVA systems can be scaled up to 4,800 disk drives with scale-out technology.
  • EonStor DS is an entry-level SAN storage solution providing a comprehensive set of data services, including local and remote replication and thin provisioning. The EonStor DS family features FC, iSCSI and SAS host systems, as well as models with hybrid FC/iSCSI host connectivity.
  • EonNAS is Infortrend's NAS (Network-Attached Storage) product family. It features a unified storage platform that simultaneously serves file- and block-based applications through its ZFS file system and business-focused featureset including deduplication, compression, unlimited snapshot, pool mirror, and WORM. EonNAS includes models designed for mid-range environments and smaller businesses.
  • JB 200/JB 2000 expansion enclosure or JBOD series. JB 200 models are for general use, while JB 2000 enclosures work with Infortrend systems specifically. Both series available in various form factors, generally 2U to 4U.
