History

Indian Institute of Craft and Design (IICD) is a unique institution that is synergizing traditional knowledge and skills with contemporary needs to evolve methodologies that are relevant to modern India. Conceived as a nodal centre for excellence in Craft and Design it has programs in Education, Training & Outreach, Research and Documentation and Advisory & Consultancy services.

Alumni are working at various levels as Entrepreneurs, Brand Managers, Quality Controllers, Designers, Coordinators, Merchandisers, Production Managers, and Marketing Heads, etc. in leading national and international organizations. Some of the alumni have become successful brands themselves. Alumni are also active in taking their knowledge to the grass root levels, working with NGOs across India to bring together the craftsman and modern technology and design.
