Ibrahim AlHusseini is a venture capitalist, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. He is the founder and managing partner of the FullCycle Energy Fund, which funds companies with the goal of turning municipal solid waste into clean energy. AlHusseini is also the founder and managing partner of the Husseini Group. He served as the co-executive producer of the 2013 Academy Award-nominated documentary, The Square. In 2015, AlHusseini won a Global Green Millennium Award for his efforts in combating global climate change.

Early life and education

AlHusseini was born in Jordan and grew up in Saudi Arabia. He attended college at the University of Washington, and currently resides in Los Angeles.

Career

AlHusseini has founded numerous companies in his entrepreneurial career. These include MECA Communications, Natural Solutions, and PakIT, the last of which is a packaging company that developed food-grade packaging material from biodegradable cellulose. AlHusseini also manages his family office, the Husseini Group. The firm has invested in companies like Tesla Motors, Zep Solar, Thrive Market, Bloom Energy, Ethical Electric, Kavita, and numerous other companies with an environmentally-friendly focus.

AlHusseini founded the FullCycle Energy Fund in 2013 with the goal of investing in companies that seek new technologies for turning solid waste into clean energy and fuel. The firm has partnered with engineering and technology firm, Synova, to produce an efficient gasification technology to turn waste into usable electricity. AlHusseini has also given talks at numerous conferences and events in 2014 and 2015. These have included engagements at the United Nations, the Nexus Youth Summit, the Success 3.0 Summit, Family Office Association, Wharton Business School and others.

Recognition and awards

In 2013, AlHussein co-executive produced the documentary, The Square, about the Egyptian Revolution of 2011 that began at Tahrir Square. The film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature at the 86th Academy Awards. The film was also nominated for 4 Emmy Awards and won 3 at the 66th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards. In 2015, AlHusseini was honored with a Millennium Award from the Global Green organization.
