INS Vajrakosh is a missile and ammunition base of the Indian Navy at Karwar, Karnataka and is the third naval establishment to be commissioned there. It which was commissioned on 9 September 2015 by the Defence Minister Mr. Manohar Parrikar.

Objective

INS Vajrakosh Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar commissions naval base INS

Karwar is poised to emerge as the Indian Navy’s premier base on the Western seaboard in the not too distant future. Some of the vital naval assets are planned to be based there. INS Vajrakosh will serve as special storage facility for specialized armaments and missiles and will be the biggest missiles, ammunition and spares dump on the Western Sea Board. It will be base that will equip all warships and airplanes and will have all the required infrastructure which will be manned by specialists to provide specialized servicing facilities for these sophisticated missiles and ammunition.  The commissioning of INS Vajrakosh will allow the Indian Navy to further bolster the offensive and defensive capabilities of its platforms.
