Hori-san to Miyamura-kun (堀さんと宮村くん) is a Japanese yonkoma slice of life school comedy shōnen web manga series written and illustrated by HERO. It was published since 2007 by Square Enix on Gangan Online. 10 volumes compiling the chapters were released. It was adapted into an original video animation series. Horimiya, a spin-off by Daisuke Hagiwara, is serialized since 2011 on Monthly G Fantasy. 10 volumes compiling the chapters have been released so far. It is published in English by Yen Press.

Characters

A bright and popular girl in school, Kyoko was a responsible girl at home, making sure her little brother is taken care of and the chores are done. This compels her to adopt a different look when at home, preferring to remove her makeup and looking domesticated to disguise herself in case she pass by her friends when doing errands. When a chance encounter allowed her classmate, Izumi Miyamura, to see her in her domestic state, she feared her secret will be exposed. Fortunately, Izumi prefers to keep her secret to himself. His open admiration of her and caring attitude towards her and her brother, sparks feelings in her for him. She heard his confession to her when she had a cold and said she heard everything he said. They became a couple after she admits Izumi is her boyfriend when her father asked her when Izumi was present.

Weird, creepy and suspected to be an otaku, Izumi harbors a gentle personality among the 9 piercings he has. He found out about Kyoko Hori's domestic appearance when he delivered her injured brother, Souta, home. He accepted his lonely existence but upon learning that Kyoko does not mind how he looks, he slowly gained confidence and friends among his classmates. Unlike his gloomy image in school, Izumi's look outside school would have easily gained him popularity with his pretty face that he hides under glasses. Izumi grows his hair long to hide his ear piercings. At first he frequented Kyoko's home to hang out with her little brother but spending time with her made him appreciate the other side of her that she hides from their other classmates. He endears himself to her by showing her the side of him few people know, from his skills in baking as his family owns a bakery to his fears of being expelled from school due to having piercings and tattoos. He was fine with being friends but his honest attitude allows him to tell Kyoko the things he admire in her. They officially became a couple after Kyoko's dad asked Kyoko whether Izumi is her boyfriend.

Kyoko's little brother who does not like carrots; after tripping and getting a nosebleed, Izumi brings Souta back to his home and where Souta constantly asks his sister to invite his new friend to come back. This gave Kyoko an excuse to hangout with Izumi after classes.

Kyoko's best friend; she was interested in Izumi when she accidentally saw him without glasses and did not recognize him. When she saw him again with Kyoko, Kyoko attempted to hide his secret between them by saying Izumi was her cousin. When Yuki met Izumi at Kyoko's home, he introduced himself as Konoha, after a manga character.

Toru liked Kyoko and befriended Izumi when he noticed the two are spending more and more time together. Izumi helped him get the chance to confess to Kyoko but he was rejected. He later became Izumi's best friend and their closeness added hilarity to the story.

Kyoko's childhood friend and the student council president. He is seen as a bit weak, but is capable. He befriends Izumi and is Ayasaki Remi's boyfriend.

Volume 2 of Horimiya reached the 15th place on the weekly Oricon manga charts and, as of December 2, 2012, had sold 43,735 copies; volume 3 reached the 32nd place and, as of May 4, 2013, had sold 75,124 copies; volume 4 reached the 21st place and, as of November 10, 2013, had sold 96,786 copies; volume 5 reached the 8th place and, as of May 11, 2014, had sold 171,530 copies; volume 6 reached the 2nd place and, as of November 16, 2014, had sold 208,788 copies.
Horimiya was number 6 in the Nationwide Bookstore Employees' Recommended Comics of 2014.
