The Honduran Red Cross is a non-profit institution of social and voluntary interest that provides help to the population in risk or in disaster. It is part of the international organization Red Cross and Half Moon Red, whose mission is to relieve the human pain by means of immediate attentions of agreement to each situation in particular.

Foundation and history

When it was developed in 1924 during the Second civil war, a group of people organized to tend to the injured in fights after the place of Tegucigalpa by the Constitutional Rebellious Strengths, following the example in 1919 of Henry Dunant during the First world-wide war, is like this when the first group of lifeguards, explained in his rows with Carlos Rivas, Delia Becerra, Emma Bonilla, Ernesto López Alleys, Hernán López Alleys, Isolina Guilbert, Luz Becerra, Marine Stair, Marieta Guilbert, Otilia Idiáquez, Roberto Rivas, Soledad Lozano, among others were those who carried the symbol of the red cross in Honduras.

Mejía, doctor Manuel Cáceres Vijil, doctor Ramón Villeda Moral, lawyer Rubén Álvarez Channels, and the Rotarary Club of Tegucigalpa. By means of Decree No. 475 issued on date 6 October 1937, the institution was known officially as the Honduran Red Cross, with functions to make humanitarian actions in the national territory. Lázarus Henrietta in 1941, serving as President of the Honduran Red Cross, requested the National Congress of Honduras to issue a law which can be established as an income in favour of the Red Cross. It was issued as the "law of the income of the seal of the Red Cross", so that the organization would receive finances in order to become feasible to sustain themselves independently and continue with social services to the people. The economic funds received by the organization would be feasible to help the organization to sustain independently and continue with the social services to the village.

    Regional headquarters

    The central headquarters de la Cruz Red Honduran, finds in the Neighborhood Conception, 7 street 1st and 2nd avenue, of Tegucigalpa, M.D.C. Republic of Honduras.

    The expansion of the regional headquarters de la Cruz Red did not do expect for which were founded in the main cities of the country, as be: Comayagua, Danlí, The Ceiba, Choluteca, Santa Bárbara,Juticalpa, San Pedro Sula, Santa Rosa of Copán, Yuscarán, etc.

    Red Cross Youth Honduras

    Red Cross Youth Honduras is an auxiliary organism of Honduran Red Cross founded on 17 June 1964. It is composed of volunteers age 6 and up organized as follows. 6 to 12 years Brigadista; 12 to 30 years Juvenile; 30 and up Advisers. The headquarters of the CRJH are in Francisco Morazán, Comayagua, Choluteca, Valley, Olancho, The Paradise, Courts, Santa Bárbara, Atlántida, Colon, Intibucá, Yoro and Copán.
