Hidehiko "Hidy" Ochiai (Japanese: 落合秀彦, born September 27, 1939) is a Japanese-born martial arts instructor, author, and actor, residing in Vestal, New York. Hidy Ochiai is credited with establishing the Washin-Ryu style of karate in the United States in 1966. He was the winner of the United States Grand National Karate Championship five consecutive times. Hidy Ochiai was also inducted into the Black Belt Hall of Fame twice—as Instructor of the Year for Japanese Arts in 1979 and as Man of the Year in 1980.
