The region that Halton Healthcare services is one of the fastest growing in Ontario. Halton Healthcare has initiated several ambitious capital projects in order to meet the needs of the expanding population. These include:
Georgetown Hospital redevelopment - a now-completed three-year project that has seen the hospital acquire a computed tomography scanner, a digital mammography suite and construct workspaces for these technologies.
Milton District Hospital modernization - a multi-faceted initiative, expected to be completed in spring 2017, that will see a new emergency department, a magnetic resonance imaging unit, a new maternal-newborn unit with dedicated Caesarian section operating suite.
new Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital - construction is complete on the new OTMH, located at Third Line and Dundas Street in Oakville. The new hospital will carry the historic OTMH name but will be three times the size of its namesake. It will house three magnetic resonance imaging and two computed tomography scanners and have 80 per cent single rooms for infection control and patient comfort. This hospital is not yet open for service but will open on December 13, 2015.
