Halawet el Jibn, in Arabic (حلاوة الجبن ), is a Levantine dessert made from sugar, water, and cheese. It has spread to places where Syrian refugees have traveled, including Turkey.
This dessert is primarily made of a cheese dough (containing Akkawi cheese, mozzarella, or some mix of cheeses), a sugar syrup, and orange blossom or rose water. It may be filled with cream and decorated with pistachio.
