Geography
Gunnampalli is one of the biggest panchayithies in the Dwaraka Thirumala mandal, West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. This Panchayithi contains four villages, the largest of which has a total population of around 4,000. The Co-operative Society, which has seven member villages, is located here in addition to the Panchayithi Offices, water tank and temples.
Lakes and canals are on all sides of the village. Lake Ura Cheruvu lies to the east of the town, the Polavaram reservoir canal to the north, and the Ethi Pothala Padhakam canal to the south.
The famous temples in this village are Sri Sitha Rama Temple, Subrhamanya Swami Temple, Hanuman Temple, and Sai Baba Temple, and Vinayaka Temple is located in the south-east corner of the village. Every year, the people celebrate festivals such as Sri Rama Navami, Vinayaka Chavithi, Subrhamanya shasti and Krishna Astami.
Education
The village has a primary school for 1st to 5th standard and the ZPOH School up to 10th standard. This ZPOH school was established in 1964. There are no colleges in this village. Most of the people go to Nallagerla for college studies, and some go to Eluru, Vijayawada.
Occupations
This is mainly an Agriculture-based village. In this village people cultivate almost all crops, though principally rice, corn, sugar cane, tobacco, and groundnut. Apart from these, coconut, oil palm, sunflower, etc.
