Ground reinforcement is a surface protection intended to be placed on a flat surface to increase accessibility for vehicles and protect the surface. It is often used on grass but can also be used on asphalt and concrete. There are several options in different materials available.

Materials

The most common material is iron, then plywood. More recently recycled plastic has been used. Its desirable properties are water resistance and recycling opportunities, in addition to the environmental aspect.

Installation

When iron plates are used, they are installed by a crane. Plywood and plastic plates are placed by hand.

Durability

Iron has the highest durability and plywood the lowest.
