On 27 January 1982, in a meeting presided over by the then Sub-divisional Officer Md Ataur Rahman Mazumdar, it was decided that a primary school should be set up in the town. The name of the school was proposed to be "Green View" by then district civil engineer Akkash Ali Mollah. The school began its activities with six teachers and four other official staff. There were about 120 students from class nursery to class five. All the activities were performed in a one-storied building including six classrooms and an office room. Presently, there are 24 rooms including an office room, teacher's room, library room, and computer lab. The construction work for the extension of the building continues. In 2001, the school was expanded to a secondary school.

The school has an alumni association, the Green View High School Ex-students Association.
