The Georges River Council is a local government area located in the St George region of Sydney located south of the CBD, in New South Wales, Australia. The Council was formed on 12 May 2016 from the merger of the Kogarah City Council and Hurstville City Council.

The Council comprises an area of 38 square kilometres (15 sq mi) and at the time of its establishment had an estimated population of 146,916.

The Administrator of the Georges River Council is John Rayner, until the elections for councillors to take place on 9 September 2017.

Once elected, Georges River Council will comprise fifteen Councillors elected proportionally, with three Councillors elected in each of the following five wards:

  • Mortdale Ward
  • Blakehurst Ward
  • Hurstville Ward
  • Kogarah Bay Ward
  • All Councillors are expected to be elected for a fixed four-year term of office with effect from 9 September 2017.
