History
Garfield Plantation is named for James A. Garfield, 20th President of the United States.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the plantation has a total area of 38.6 square miles (99.9 km2), of which 38.3 square miles (99.2 km2) is land and 0.27 square miles (0.7 km2), or 0.71%, is water.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 86 people, 37 households, and 24 families residing in the plantation. The population density was 2.3 people per square mile (0.9/km²). There were 78 housing units at an average density of 2.0 per square mile (0.8/km²). The racial makeup of the plantation was 100.00% White.
There were 37 households out of which 27.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.6% were married couples living together, 8.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.1% were non-families. 27.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 18.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.32 and the average family size was 2.67.
