Profiles

Fullscreen, Inc. is a global network of content creators and brands on YouTube owned by Otter Media, a joint venture of AT&T and The Chernin Group. It is an independent YouTube network based on unique viewers according to comScore Video Metrix. Fullscreen offers tools, services, and consultation to its members. As of September 22, 2014, Fullscreen, Inc. operates as a subsidiary of Otter Media. Fullscreen acquired social media creative studio, McBeard, in May 2015.

Contents

In addition to the network, Fullscreen also provides an end-to-end channel management and optimization service for brands and media companies to grow their presence on YouTube. The premium service, which includes a full suite of software tools and consultation on programming strategy, is designed to build audience and engagement around clients’ video content. Fullscreen’s current clients include NBCUniversal, FOX, FremantleMedia, JASH, Fine Brothers Entertainment, Rooster Teeth (its subsidiary), WIGS and more.

History

Fullscreen was founded on January 2011 by CEO George Strompolos, who hired Ezra Cooperstein as Fullscreen’s COO. Previously an executive at Google/YouTube, Strompolos was responsible for establishing distribution partnerships with new media companies and YouTube’s top content producers. He co-created and developed YouTube’s Partnership Program that has developed a new class of content producers around the world.

Peter Chernin was a strategic partner and advisor since Fullscreen’s inception; The Chernin Group officially came on board as an investor in May 2011. Viral marketing expert Brendan Gahan was brought on board as vice president of brand strategy in 2013

Fullscreen also runs Channel Plus which works with companies like NBC, and Fox, and teaches them on how to distribute content on YouTube. In September of 2016, Fullscreen subsidiary McBeard acquired Channel Plus and changed its name to Video Labs, rounding out the social offerings for the company.

In November 2015, Andy Forssell joined the company as COO. He will oversee Fullscreen's three business divisions and also join Fullscreen's board.

Initiatives

On November 30, 2012, Fullscreen launched their Million Dollar Creator Fund committing one million dollars' worth of advertising and promotion to their creators. Every month, four channels within the Fullscreen network will be awarded up to $10,000 in pre-roll advertising and guerilla campaigns, in which Fullscreen will pay its other partners to promote the winning channels.
