Founding

Five friends – Shaik Shareef, Naveen Reddy, Koteswara Rao Sanampudi, Phani Kethamakka and Murali Krishna – hailing from Narsaraopet, Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh inaugurated Friends2Support on November 14, 2005 in Hyderabad. The founders are all software engineers employed in Various Countries. Friends2Support was founded as an effort to tackle the problem of blood unavailability at the hospital.

They 5 members became the first donors, after which people joined in as we progressed and the group grew. They had to manage their IT jobs and the challenge of spreading the idea. They mailed whoever we knew about the site in our spare time, who in turn, spread it to other people. They held gatherings, approached people door-to-door and that was how F2S gained popularity.

F2S has conducted many landmark events to promote their idea across the country. Bike rally’s, Walks and signature campaigns for creating awareness in which the public participated in great numbers.

Our future plans include establishing a toll-free number across the country in all the languages, which will support all languages and will be completely free of cost and concentrating on rural education and starting a book donation website.

“Being part of a country of 100 million, don’t you think that the need for a common man to ‘BUY’ blood is unnecessary? Especially when there are lakhs of people who come forward to donate blood wholeheartedly?

Any person in need of blood at any place in India should get it within minutes, thereby putting an end to colossal wastage of valuable blood collected at blood donation camps. This is what we believe in.” On that note, F2S chugs on.

Friends2support, which is now accessible in every corner of India, has grown 2,00,000 registered volunteer donors in 10 years, and Becomes World’s largest voluntary blood donor database.

Mobile Apps

Now, friends2support.org launched mobile apps (applications) for all mobile platforms (android, Windows & iPhone users). The philosophy behind the launch of ‘Friends2Support.org’ apps to help people to find blood donors & register as voluntary blood donor with their smart phones in more smarter way in their own locations whenever required.

NASSCOM Foundation Social Innovation Honours shortlisted Friends2Support for the innovative contribution to society(non-profit).

'Manthan Award 2007' was conferred during an International Conference on e-content and Sustainability event organised by the Digital Empowerment Foundation in association with the Department of Information Technology and American India Foundation in New Delhi on September 21 and 22.
