The Fifth Thai–Lao Friendship Bridge (Thai: สะพานมิตรภาพ ไทย-ลาว แห่งที่ 5,  [sàpʰaːn míttràpʰâːp tʰaj laːw hɛ̀ŋ tʰîː haː]; Lao: ຂົວມິດຕະພາບ ລາວ-ໄທ, [kʰǔə mittapʰâːp láːw tʰaj]) is a proposed highway bridge over the Mekong River that links the Bueng Kan Province of Thailand and Pakxan town, Bolikhamxai Province in Laos.

History

The bridge has experienced numerous delays, and was under consideration as early as 2013, and as of 2016 the final design had been submitted to both countries. Construction companies are expected to bid and construction itself should begin in 2017.
