Ewell Castle School is a co-educational Independent day school for boys and girls aged 3–18. Founded in 1926 by Mr Herbert Budgell, originally as a boarding school, it is located in Ewell, Surrey. The school consists of the Main House (affectionately known by Ewellians as 'The Castle'), Glyn House and Chessington Lodge. Headteachers are Mrs M. Phillips (BEd) of the Junior School and Mr P. Harris MSc, BSc, PGCE, NPQH, who is Principal of the School.

Tutors and teaching

Class sizes are small and typically might number 5 pupils in the Sixth Form. An average English or Maths class in GCSE years typically has about 16 pupils in it.

Houses

The school has three Houses: Castlemaine, Raleigh and Essex (colours orange, green and purple, respectively). When they start at the school, pupils are assigned to a house, and they remain in it throughout their school career. If a sibling of an Ewellian pupil were to join the school, they would be assigned to the same house.

Societies

At Ewell Castle, there are dozens of societies. The clubs range from Design, Sciences, Politics and Debating to Sports and recreation (e.g. Sailing, Duke of Edinburgh Award). In late 2008 a team from the school won first prize in the Epsom, Ewell and Banstead Schools’ Enterprise Challenge 2008.

Sports

The School has extensive grounds that include rugby, tennis and cricket pitches. There are also cricket nets and athletics facilities. The school has a large, modern, multi-purpose Sports Hall complex.

Sporting fixtures in a wide range of sports are played against other independent schools such as Charterhouse, City of London Freemen's School, Halliford School, St Paul's, King's College School, Epsom College and Reigate Grammar School.

Music

The entire lower floor of Glyn House is devoted to the school's many bands, choirs and solo artists, including the school's most popular band 'Ironic Smile'.

Drama

There are annual Drama productions and this year some of the pupils embarked on LAMDA exams. In addition, Ewell Castle performed 'Oliver' at the Epsom Playhouse Theatre in 2016.
