Eva Simone Hayward is an assistant professor in Gender and Women Studies at the University of Arizona. Her work examines the role of visual representation in scientific knowledge, with particular attention to animal studies, psychoanalysis, aesthetic philosophy, and sexuality studies.

Career and Education
Eva Hayward graduated in 2008 from the University of California, Santa Cruz with M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in History of Consciousness. Her PhD adviser was Donna Haraway, and her dissertation committee included Teresa de Lauretis, James Clifford, Jennifer González, and Vicki Pearse. While at UCSC, she worked as a research assistant at the Long Marine Laboratory. She was an assistant professor for Cinematic Arts and helped to design the Interdisciplinary Film and Digital Media Program at the University of New Mexico. Eva Hayward was a post doctoral fellow for Women's Studies at Duke University and an associate researcher at Uppsala University, Sweden. She was also a columnist for The Independent Weekly, and published for popular venues such as Yes! Magazine, Women & Environments Magazine, and AEQAI.
