Etowah High School is located in Woodstock, in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is one of six high schools in the Cherokee County School District, along with Cherokee, Sequoyah, Woodstock, Creekview, and River Ridge.

Its mascot is the Eagle, and its colors are blue and gold.

The school was one of the sites used for filming the 2000 sports drama Remember the Titans.

Academic Performance

Etowah has ranked first in Cherokee County SAT scores since 2006. It was one of 304 schools in the nation that won the National Blue Ribbon School Award in 2010.

The Washington Post named EHS in the top 9% of America's Most Challenging High Schools in 2013 and 2014. Etowah was in the top seven in the state for Advance Placement Testing Performance in 2014.

In 2010, the average SAT score for Etowah High School was above the Cherokee County, state, and national averages. The mean reading score was 558, the mean math score was 574, and the mean writing score was 547, for an average total score of 1679 of a possible 2400. The Georgia average total score was 1453. The national average total score was 1509.

In 2014 Etowah High School received the highest ACT composite score in the Cherokee County School District.

Advanced Placement classes offered at Etowah High School include World History, U.S. History, Government, Psychology, Chemistry, Biology, Physics (1, 2, and C: Mechanics), Environmental Science, Calculus (AB and BC), Statistics, Computer Science, English Language, and English Literature. The average AP score across classes was a 3.72 out of a possible 5 in 2010.

Graduation rates have improved at Etowah High School as well.

  • Bill Stewart was the head coach of Etowah's football team from 2006-2011 and led the Eagles to the state playoffs every year of his tenure. In 2006, 2008 and 2010 his teams won the 5-AAAAA Region Championship. Coach Stewart left the school in 2011 and was replaced by Dave Svehla, who remains the current head coach.

    Coach Dave Svehla took the 2014 EHS football team to the state semi-finals, making school history in his third year as head coach.
