After refusing an offer from Major League Soccer club New York Red Bulls Jääger rejoined Aalesund on 5 March 2010. The first-choice right-back played the whole match when the team won their second Norwegian Cup in three years. After refusing a contract extension, he left the club after the 2011 season.

On 5 January 2012, Jääger passed a medical at Polish Ekstraklasa side Lechia Gdańsk, but rejected the contract offer to pursue other options. He then had a test period with Scottish Premier League champions Rangers. Ally McCoist was impressed and keen to sign him, but the player eventually left the club without an offer after the trial period ended as Rangers failed to reduce their wage bill to make room for him. On 5 February 2012, he started a trial at English League One side Charlton Athletic, which was cut short due to bad weather conditions at the time. English Championship sides Crystal Palace and Leeds United were also rumored to be interested in the player.

Jääger joined Aalesund for the third time on 13 March 2012, after an improved one-year contract offer was made by the Norwegian club.
