Feeney was born in Galway and has lived much of her life in Athenry. She won the Cúirt Grand Slam in 2008. She was educated at the town's Presentation College Athenry, and teaches English at St. Jarlath's College, Tuam. She resides in Athenry with her husband Ray Glasheen and two sons. Feeney has performed internationally since her first slam success and is considered both a page and performance poet, one of the 'most provocative poets to come out of Ireland in the last decade' (Fionnaula Flanagan - 2013 - California)

Feeney grew up on a farm in Athenry, Co. Galway. She attended Scoil Croi Naofa, Athenry a school she writes about in 'The Radio was Gospel', Presentation College Athenry and completed her education at University College Galway, University College Cork and University of Limerick.
