History and Current Business Model

The first Doorstep Delivery was established February 29, 2008 by William Moore and Andrew Brown. They joined partners with Tom Colangelo, who started a restaurant delivery service in Gainesville, Florida. This service, called Gatorfood.com, was established in 1999 and had $2 million in gross sales in the first 3 years. The company in Gainesville was first named GatorFood.com and expanded to Capital City Food in Tallahassee with Daniel Sinor in 2006. The names of all locations were changed to Doorstep Delivery in 2011 and the official website became www.DoorstepDelivery.com. The business model changed into a franchise model with all locations being renamed to Doorstep Delivery in 2011.

Doorstep Delivery typically charges $3.99 for online delivery orders. Food delivery is often quoted on average as 55 minutes. Current restaurants for delivery through Doorstep Delivery include Chili’s, T.G.I.Friday's, Bento Café, Chuy's, Jersey Mike's Subs, Outback Steakhouse, Olive Garden, California Pizza Kitchen, and several other large national restaurant chains in the United States.

The service specializes in large group orders and delivering to locations including the beach, hotels, office buildings, and hospitals. The Doorstep Delivery service is also integrated with online services such as Yelp, GrubHub, and Eat24. Doorstep Delivery also offers concierge service on large orders for groups or organizations.

Doorstep Delivery has reported reaching $20 million gross sales in 2014 with 75 employees and 650 drivers nationwide.
