Dmitri Mehlhorn is an American author and businessman. He is a public policy writer and best known as the author of "A Requiem for Blockbusting: Law, Economics, and Race-Based Real Estate Speculation" for the Fordham Law Review. Mehlhorn is also a contributor to the American Enterprise Institute, The Daily Beast, the Boston University Journal of Science and Technology Law and The Atlantic.
Mehlhorn started his career at McKinsey & Company, a consulting firm, and later became the Managing Director at Gerson Lehrman Group. He was also the Chief of Staff at O'Melveny & Myers, an international law firm. Mehlhorn is the former chief operating officer and President of Bloomberg BNA Legal. In 2013, he became a Senior Advisor to Eric Garcetti, the mayor of Los Angeles. Since 2014, Mehlhorn has been a partner at Vidinovo, a venture capital network. He is a member of the boards for the technology companies, MedGenome, American Prison Data Systems and Aquicore. Mehlhorn has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones, GenomeWeb and Venture Beat.
Mehlhorn is also known as a political activist. In 2003, he was the co-founder of Hope Street Group, an economic opportunity nonprofit organization. In 2010, he co-founded StudentsFirst, an educational reform nonprofit organization, and is on the Board of Directors.
