Digboi (IPA: ?d?g?bo?) (Assamese: ) is a town and a town area committee in Tinsukia district in the north-eastern part of the state of Assam, India

Crude oil was discovered here in late 19th century. Digboi is known as the Oil City of Assam where the first oil well in Asia was drilled. The first refinery was started here as early as 1901. Digboi has the oldest oil well in operation. With a significant number of British professionals working for Assam Oil Company until the decade following independence of India, Digboi had a well-developed infrastructure and a number of bungalows unique to the town. It has eighteen holes golf course as part of the Digboi Club. It has guest houses and tourist residential apartments laid on Italian architectural plan to promote tourism in upper Assam.

Digboi is located at 27.38°N 95.63°E? / 27.38; 95.63. It has an average elevation of 165 metres (541 ft).It is situated 510 km north east of Guwahati.

Digboi has a old history of hundred years. Places of interest :-

  • Digboi Golf Club: It is a Golf Club having 18-hole golf course. Established in 1930 by the Britishers. Names of the past CAPTAINS / PRIZE Winners listed since 1930,can be seen the wall of the club.
  • Digboi Oil Museum: Digboi Centenary Museum shows the history of this town. It is maintained by Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. Various old machines of the Digboi Refinery/ Documents/ things of daily use are displayed. It is the only one oil industry related museum in the country.
  • Digboi Oil Field: The oil field next to the museum is worth visiting and has more than 1000 wells and some of them are still active and producing OIL. The oil field is now controlled by Oil India Limited, based in Duliajan.
  • Digboi War Cemetery: Digboi War Cemetery is one of the attraction of Digboi. The World War II Cemetery of the Europeans deployed here for joint operation with Chinese and Americans under General Stil Well.
  • Religious Places: Digboi has a multicultural society with temples, gurudwaras, churches, namghars etc. The main festivals celebrated here are durga puja,kali puja and bihu.
  • Market Place: The main markets are Savitry Complex Famous For Mobile Market, Charali Bazar, AOD market, Tinali Bazar,mIOC New Market and Muliabari Market.
