Diane Tell 1983

Diane Tell (born Diane Fortin, 24 December 1958 in Quebec City, Quebec) is a Canadian singer-songwriter. She first studied music (violin and classical guitar) at the Conservatoire de musique du Quebec a Montreal and the Conservatoire de musique du Quebec a Val-d'Or, then studied jazz guitar at Cegep de Saint-Laurent in Montreal. She started writing songs at the age of 12 and signed her first record deal at 18. She was probably the first female French Canadian singer songwriter to record her own songs exclusively. "Gilberto", her first hit song was a tribute to Joao Gilberto but it was "Si j'etais un homme" on her third album that made her a popular artist both in Canada and Europe. She moved to Paris in 1983 and now lives in Biarritz, France.
