Early life and education

Diana Raab was born in Brooklyn, New York of two immigrant parents. She received her B.S. from Cortland State University in Health Administration with a minor in Journalism. She received her R.N. degree from Vanier College in Quebec, Canada and took her licensure in French. In 2003, she earned her MFA in Writing from Spalding University\s Low Residency program in Kentucky. She has a Ph.D. in Transpersonal Psychology from Sofia University (Formerly The Institute of Transpersonal Psychology) in Palo Alto. Her research involved the transformative and healing aspects of memoir writing.

Raab resides in southern California.

Career

Raab has been writing since the age of 10 when her mother gave her a journal to help her cope with her grandmother\s suicide in her childhood home. Since then she has used writing as a way of healing and transformation, such as when encountering a tumultuous adolescence, three high-risk pregnancies and two bouts with cancer. She practiced cardiovascular nursing and was Director of Nursing in a chronic care hospital. She was a medical journalist for 25 years while raising her three children.

In 2001, she returned to school for her MFA in Writing, and continued her passion for writing memoir and poetry. She frequently lectures and facilitates workshops in memoir, poetry, and writing for healing and transformation. She also has been a regular guest on radio shows and serves on a number of literary boards.

She is a regular blogger for Psychology Today, The Huffington Post (Huff50) and Brain Speak.

Diana Raab is the author of six books and editor of two anthologies. Her work has appeared in over 600 journals and anthologies including The Washington Post, The Writer, Writer\s Journal, Rattle, The Boiler Room Journal, The Louisville Review, Rosebud, Litchfield Review, Prairie Wolf Press, Citron Review, Snail Mail Review , New Mirage, The Tonopah Review, Palo Alto Review, The Rambler, Red River Review, Alehouse, Poetica, Oracle and Chest.
