Born in Slavonski Brod, SR Croatia, back then still within Yugoslavia, he played for Austrian Football Bundesliga side Kapfenberger SV, until his transfer to SK Rapid Wien. This transfer was announced on June 3, 2011.
International career
Alar got his first call up to the senior Austria side for a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Republic of Ireland in June 2017.
Personal life
He is the son of former Croatian footballer Goran Alar.
