Versions

The first version of the song was originally recorded in Ocean of Time Studios in Fredrikstad, Norway, and got the name "Death in Small Doses". The song is 4.27 minutes long, making it the third shortest track on Tonic Breed's debut album On the Brink of Destruction.

The new version of the song had its release a year and a half after the release of the debut album. It was remixed and remastered by Beau Hill. The remake got the added title, Put to Death. It has no changes from the original song in the actual songwriting. The main difference lays in the sound, but there are minor differences in the actual mix of the two songs.

Compared to most Tonic Breed songs, this song is not played in a standard E tuning. Alone with "Lowball" and "Suit the Day", also from "On the Brink of Destruction", this song is played in a drop C tuning.

Lyrics

The lyrics of the song, written by Svendsen, address the problem of death penalty of innocent people.
