In 2000, he went abroad to the United States to play for the Richmond Kickers of the USL A-League. In 2001, Gomez was signed by the Toronto Lynx. The following year Gomez began his stint with the Metro Lions of the Canadian Professional Soccer League. That same year he was loaned out to the Toronto Supra, making his debut on August 29, 2002 against the Durham Flames and recording a goal in 5-2 victory. He would continue playing in the CPSL between the Serbian White Eagles, Vaughan Shooters, and the Canadian Lions. His biggest achievements within the league was capturing the CSL Championship with the White Eagles, and various division titles with Italia/Vaughan Shooters. He would conclude his playing career with York Region and afterwards make the transition to head coach.

Managerial career

In 2014, he made the transition from player to head coach for the York Region Shooters. In his debut season as head coach Gomez managed to achieve an undefeated season which led to York Region clinching the Regular season as champions. The achievement marked a new milestone as York Region became the third club in CSL history to go undefeated; the first being the Toronto Olympians, and the second being the Ottawa Wizards. He managed to win the Double by winning the CSL Championship by defeating runners up Toronto Croatia in penalties. At the conclusion of the season, Gomez was awarded the CSL Coach of the Year award.
