The route

The original double track route to Coalburn via Tillietudlem was replaced by a new alignment through Blackwood. A line also ran to Stonehouse, Canderside and Swinehill. Stonehouse and Coalburn stations closed on 4 October 1965. Dalserf Junction, Cornsilloch Colliery and brick works were located nearby.

The station

The station had substantial passenger buildings, two platforms with an overbridge, several sidings, and goods sheds. The signal box was near the junction.
