Zara Hidayatullah (Sanam Baloch) and Maleeha Sami (Aamina Sheikh) have been close friends for over seven years. Zara belongs to a lower-middle-class family while Maleeha comes from an upper class household. Yet their class difference has never threatened their unbreakable bond. Maleeha had been there for her friend through many hardships, though she never really felt or lived the extent of the mental anguish that plagued Zara's life. The great blow to their friendship comes when Maleeha's elder brother Junaid (Adeel Hussain), shows his interest in marrying Zara. Their parents have no objection to the union, but it comes as a real shock to Maleeha, as she is unable to fathom the thought that Zara, an average status girl, could marry her brother who is eligible in all means. Maleeha's cousin, and sister-in-law Fiza (Sanam Saeed), also Zara's and Maleeha's class fellow, starts manipulating her against Zara. Meanwhile, Zara's family has found a perfect suitor for Zara's older sister Aasma (Nimra Bucha). She promises Junaid that his family can approach hers with their proposal after her sister's marriage. But things didn't go as planned. Zara's father got imprisoned for defrauding in a new business scheme he was working at. Zara's family needs to gather a large amount of money to pay for his bail, which they were unable to afford. Zara asks Maleeha for help, but Maleeha makes a bargain with her. She decides to give Zara the money only if she breaks off with Junaid. Insulted, disdained and helpless, Zara agrees and gives Maleeha the pendant Junaid gifted. Junaid's family later approaches Zara, but she turns them down by saying that she is committed to one of her cousins. Meanwhile, Fiza starts developing feelings for Junaid, and tries to convince Maleeha and her family to let her marry him. When Junaid refuses, Fiza starts turning her brother and Maleeha's husband, Yasir (Fiasal Shah) against her. Zara in the meanwhile receives a 100% scholarship, and moves to Glasgow for her further education. Moving to London after a short period of time, Zara returns Maleeha every single penny she owed her, which Maleeha had spent over her in years of their friendship.

Seven years later, a professionally successful Zara reconnects with Junaid who is in an unhappy marriage with Fiza. Junaid also discovers that Zara lied about her engagement, and that she is still single. He confronts Maleeha and decides to divorce Fiza. Yasir threatens Maleeha with divorce if her brother were to leave Fiza. Maleeha visits Zara to apologize for what she made Zara do seven years ago. Maleeha decides to meet Zara to tell to not marry Junaid. Zara who has no intention of marrying Junaid, tells Maleeha how deeply she loved Junaid, and how unfair Maleeha had been to her. Maleeha starts to regret her awful behavior and realizes that she has lost two important people of her life. Thus she tells Junaid the truth and leaves Yasir on her own. Zara moves back to UK rejecting Junaid but saying it would be impossible for her to forget the memories of the time she spent with him.
