Early life

Hume was born in Barking, Essex and spent his formative years in Ilford, Essex. His mother, Daphne (nee Denham), was a cook and his father Robert worked at the Abbey Mills Pumping Station in Stratford. Hume was educated at Chadwell Heath High School in Redbridge, Romford, Essex and currently lives in Leyton, London.

Acting

In 2015, Hume received critical acclaim for his character of Trevor Bunting in short film Chance directed by Jake Graf. Graf said that he wrote the role of Trevor specifically for Hume, as they are old friends and had worked with each other previously.Scott Elliot from Big Gay Picture Show said of Hume:

"Clifford Hume’s portrayal of a man lost in a deep depression after the death of his wife is touching and absolutely spot-on: His daily struggles are shown in a tender yet unflinching light and Chance‘s minimal dialogue serves to underscore those feelings of hopelessness and isolation."

Personal

Hume is a fan and previous season ticket holder of Leyton Orient Football Club. He is a keen historian with a particular interest in London's Victorian history and the RMS Titanic.
