Clear Horizon – The Best of Basia

Clear Horizon – The Best of Basia is a compilation album by Polish-born singer Basia. It was released on November 17, 1998, by Sony Music and consists of 17 songs. Of these three were originally released on her debut album, Time and Tide (1986), with three others from London Warsaw New York (1990), five from The Sweetest Illusion (1994), and two from the live album Basia on Broadway (1995). The remaining four songs were original recordings made exclusively for this compilation. Although Basia had only three charting singles on the Top 100 ("Time and Tide", "New Day for You", and "Cruising for Bruising"), music critic Stephen Thomas Erlewine stated:

Clear Horizon: The Best of Basia remains an engaging listen nevertheless, because it balances those hits with strong album tracks and forgotten singles. Unlike many artists with a handful of hits, Basia made fully realized albums, but since none of them were drastically dissimilar in style, this compilation works very well. Not only is it the ideal choice for the curious and casual fan, it is truly entertaining for the hardcore fan, since it rounds up all the best cuts on one disc.
