History

Chung-Ang University Business School first started out as the Division of Commerce in 1948 when Chung-Ang University was founded. In 1995, the school renamed the Division of Commerce as The College of Business Administration, and it marked the official start of CBS, the very first business college in Korea. CBS was ranked 5th in overall evaluation of business, trade, and accounting related departments by Korean Council for University Education in 1995. The organization structure of CBS has been evolving along with the progress of social requirements for the higher business education. The current system of CBS was formed in 2006, when the Graduate School of Business offering MBA and various executive programs was established. The college now offers both undergraduate and graduate study programs specifically tailored to today's changing business environment. Its courses are designed to equip students with practical as well as theoretical knowledge to help them cope with the numerous problems arising in today's industrial organizations that are far more complicated, specialized, and demanding than those of previous time.

Vision

Chung-Ang University Business School strives to become a world-class business school. Such vision is supported by three relevant missions.

Mission

The mission of Chung-Ang University Business School is to educate and nurture global leaders with sound intellectual foundation and social responsibility. CBS’s goal is to make students contribute to the development of knowledge in the area of business, and to engage business and community organizations.

Excellence in Teaching and Research

Excellence in teaching and research is one of the most crucial factors that no university can dispense with. Maintaining strong research capabilities and having first-class faculty is the top priority of CBS.

Innovative leadership

As decentralization becomes a worldwide trend in business organizations, the importance of leadership is ever growing in current business environment. Not only team leaders, but also every single person who consist a team is now required to make decisions and lead other people. Therefore, CBS aims to equip students with innovative leadership and successful decision-making skills and offers specifically designed courses.

Global competences

Accelerating globalization has made current business environment more global than ever before, meaning that the territorial boundaries between firms and markets have been demolished. Thus, it is significantly important for students to understand foreign business cultures and to have an ability to communicate with global partners. CBS put much emphasis on fostering students with international perspective by providing numerous lectures in English, promoting exchange student and foreign internship programs and so forth.
