Christopher Desmond Stynes was born in Queens, New York and attended Boca Raton Community High School in Florida. He attended Florida Atlantic University.

His grandfather was Joe Stynes, who played Irish Rules football; Jim Stynes, his cousin, played for the Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League.
