Chola Chabuca

Ernesto Pimentel also known by his stage name La Chola Chabuca is one of the most, if not the most, popular television personality in Peru. He has had a show on América Television for the past 15 years. Ernesto takes his stage name "La Chola" from the Peruvian term for women who live in the mountains of Peru. He fashions his costumes based on their traditional dress except, unlike other Peruvian entertainers, he glamorizes these women with extravagant and beautiful dresses. As a result, he is particularly popular with the rural population of Peru. Ernesto Pimental's early career was as a "drag queen" but after he conceived his La Chola persona in the early 1990s he has increasingly become a beloved personality throughout Peru. Ernesto also produces and stars in the La Chola Chabuca Circo (Circus) which is a very popular annual event in July and August. He is also a real estate entrepreneur involved in residential real estate construction.
