The school has specialisms in languages and the arts. The current headteacher is Miss Rebecca Allott who succeeded Mr TJ Vaughan on his retirement in 2000.

Awards

The school holds the Artsmark Silver Award from the Arts Council to recognise the high quality of work in various aspects of the curriculum including art, drama, music and dance. It also has the Sports Mark Award recognising the strong sporting ethos of the school.

Inspections

Cheam High School received "Outstanding" Ofsted reports in both 2007 and 2010. This is the highest grade Ofsted award and only 20% of schools received it.
